The sounds of music emitted by the movements of the uncovered female hands are actually the result of friction with the radio waves. Radio-waves are emitted from the electromagnetic field created around the generator in the box, and transmitted through two antennas. One of the antennas is for musical dynamics, the other for the notes.
This instrument, theremin, of Russian origin and it is named after Lev Termen, an inventor and an intelligence agent. This instrument is not quite popular among us. Satenik Hakobyan-Ulikhanyan is the only one to master theremin. She learned playing this unusual instrument via Internet.
