Germany backs Armenia and Turkey in normalizing relations, opening the border, and establishing diplomatic ties, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Germany.
Speaking on regional connectivity, Pashinyan expressed confidence that Armenia and Turkey could reach the stage of the opening of the Armenia-Turkey borders.
"This means a direct connection of Armenia, including land and rail connections, with the EU, including Germany. It will be a turning point economically, politically, and for investment opportunities. I am pleased that Germany supports Armenia and Turkey in normalizing relations, opening the border, and ultimately establishing diplomatic ties," the Prime Minister said.
During the meeting, Pashinyan briefed Chancellor Merz on the positive developments taking place in Armenia-Turkey relations.
