US President Donald Trump, speaking at a White House press conference, said he was confident that significant progress had been made in the peaceful resolution of the conflict, and hoped that an agreement would be reached with Kyiv and Moscow more quickly.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that according to the United States' version of the settlement, a demilitarized zone should be created in eastern Ukraine, but Washington did not specify who should control this territory - Russia or Ukraine.
The US President went further and announced his intention to create a free economic zone in the demilitarized zone, which, according to him, will work, despite the difficult situation.
According to the Ukrainian President, the most difficult issue in the negotiation process now is the issue of territories. He did not rule out that it will be put to a referendum, which, according to American media, Washington considered progress in the peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. According to a White House Spokesman, the United States is ready to provide Ukraine with security guarantees based on NATO Article 5.
Zelensky noted that they are currently working to end the war and obtain security guarantees for Ukraine, cooperating with Europe and the United States.
