Some countries have expressed interest in joining the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement between Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. An adviser to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh said the country is ready to consider joining the alliance, taking into account national interests and the changing international situation.
Earlier, the Syrian Foreign Minister said that the country is considering joining the Mecca Agreement, but a final decision has not been made yet.
The Mecca Agreement is being called by many as the “Islamic NATO.” The alliance between Ankara, Riyadh and Islamabad envisages deepening military cooperation and also includes the principle of collective defense, following the example of NATO.
