Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Yevdokimov has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Azerbaijan, the ministry reported.
During the meeting, the Azerbaijani side conveyed to the Russian side the “serious concern and resolute protest” regarding the “provocative, insulting and threatening” statements that were recently made in the Russian media and information field against Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani people, and the country's leadership.
In particular, attention was drawn to the statements that were made during an August 13 broadcast and were directed against Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani people, and the country’s leadership.
In addition, the Russian side was reminded of the claims made on the air of Sputnik Radio on August 7 about putting the Azerbaijani leadership on the “Russian list of terrorists and extremists,” as well as the repeated publication of “offensive materials and provocative statements” against the Azerbaijani leadership on YouTube on August 9 and Spas television on August 16.
It was emphasized that the discussion of the possibilities of interfering in the internal political processes of Azerbaijan, as well as the calls for physical violence against the Azerbaijani people and the Azerbaijani leadership, are unacceptable.
It was noted that, despite the repeated calls of the Azerbaijani side to stop such activities and discuss this issue at various political levels, the continuation of such rhetoric, in an even harsher form, raises serious concerns.
During the meeting, Azerbaijan’s expectations were once again conveyed to the Russian side to take urgent and effective measures to put an end to the “provocative, threatening and violence-preaching” rhetoric against Azerbaijan in the Russian information and media space, the Azerbaijani MFA added.
