U.S. President Donald Trump detailed his "Trump Gold Card" initiative on Wednesday, a special visa program for highly-skilled migrants with a $1 million minimum fee for applicants.
Trump made the comments during a roundtable meeting with tech CEOs at the White House.
Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick said the program would cost individual applicants $1 million to apply, while corporations could sponsor a potential employee such as a promising college student for $2 million.
The Gold Card name may be a reference to similar so-called "golden visa" programs in some foreign countries, including in Europe.
