During a press conference in Hamburg, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the prospects for opening the Armenia-Turkey border within the broader context of unblocking regional transport infrastructure.
“Normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations and the opening of the border have now acquired an entirely different context, because within the framework of the ‘Peace Crossroads’ and the ‘TRIPP Route’ projects, the opening of the Armenia-Turkey border now means establishing a railway link from Central Asia to the European Union, and not only a railway link, but also a road transport connection. It means opportunities for new pipelines and for extending new power transmission lines”, he said.
According to Pashinyan, he has now reached a firm conviction that at some point in the future; a green hydrogen pipeline will run from Central Asia to Europe.
“Now, the normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations and the opening of the border would mean an additional potential route for that future pipeline - one that would benefit both the countries of our region and the member states of the European Union”, he added.
