Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has called for a repeat of the Gaza Strip in Lebanon.
“We will not allow the creation of a new Gaza in Lebanon, because Europe must act consistently against gross violations of international humanitarian law,” Sanchez said.
He believes that the European Union should also suspend the association agreement with Israel.
Israel has announced that it aims to create a buffer zone south of the Litani River in southern Lebanon to protect northern Israeli settlements from shelling. The Jewish state has previously announced its intention to completely demolish all border villages in Lebanon and has banned hundreds of thousands of local residents who have been evacuated to the north of the country from returning home.
