Firefighters from Spain's Military Emergency Unit (UME) were deployed on Thursday evening (August 27) to help efforts to extinguish a wildfire in Spain's western province of Valencia, Reuters reports.
Residents of the town of El Saler and nearby camps were evacuated as a preventive measure.
Valencia’s Emergencies Office reported on Thursday night that the fire had consumed at least 31 hectares. Authorities hoped weather conditions would help firefighting efforts but warned citizens to remain cautious.
