Iran's Foreign Ministry on Friday urged other countries not to enforce a new round of US sanctions against Tehran, calling the measures illegal and accusing Washington of “using the dollar” to pressure governments into following its policies,

The ministry was responding to Washington's “Operation Economic Outcast,” announced this week as part of a campaign to tighten financial pressure on Iran.
“US economic sanctions against Iran, regardless of their name or title, are completely illegal and unjustified measures,” the ministry said in a statement.
“Accordingly, all countries are obliged to refrain from implementing such sanctions,” it added.
The ministry said participation in enforcing unilateral US sanctions amounted to helping Washington impose its will on other states and disrupt their legitimate economic and trade relations.
The ministry called “Operation Economic Outcast” a form of “economic terrorism” and said Iran would use all available means to defend itself against US military and economic pressure.
