Today, the regular Cabinet meeting took place, chaired by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan,Armenian Government’s press office reports.
The Government adopted a decision to provide compensation for certain products exported from the territory of the Republic of Armenia within the framework of the support measure for the export of certain greenhouse products in September as well. Another decision will ensure that compensation for products exported and purchased for processing within the framework of the support measure for the export or processing of fresh fruit and certain types of food and beverages from the territory of the Republic of Armenia will be provided in September as well. Commenting on the decision, Nikol Pashinyan noted that Armenia has begun to be perceived as a country producing the highest quality dried fruits. “This is an interesting direction, especially considering that due to the problems that arose this year, we have additionally stimulated procurement, and in the case of dried fruits, there is greater flexibility in terms of storage periods. We must pay attention to this nuance, because in the corresponding season there will be a greater and global demand,” the Prime Minister said.
Nikol Pashinyan also noted that it is necessary to work with producers of canned fruits and vegetables, jams. “When the fresh fruit and vegetable season is over, we must already implement programs to support the export of dried fruits and canned fruits. We must guide the directions in which we solve the problem with specific programs.”
According to the Prime Minister, diversification of export markets should become the strategy of the Government of Armenia: “I believe that even if all the problems within the EAEU disappear, diversification should become our strategy, regardless of everything. Here we should not deviate from that direction. But at the moment we should happily record that, of course, the problem has been and is, but, on the other hand, we see that this problem is being managed thanks to the efforts of the state and private sector. And of course, our esteemed tourists play a significant role here, who with their flows also provide a third dimension to the solution of this problem, because they would have to purchase and consume this product in supermarkets or markets of different countries, but they come and purchase and consume it in the Republic of Armenia. By the way, with this logic, the further development and expansion of tourism from Yerevan to the regions is very important so that we can solve these problems.”
The government submitted a proposal on making amendments and supplements to the Law "On the Prevention of Domestic Violence and the Protection of Persons Subjected to Domestic Violence" and a number of related laws. The authors of the package of bills are deputies of the "Civil Contract" faction of the National Assembly, Zaruhi Batoyan, Sona Ghazaryan and Tsovinar Vardanyan.
As noted by the Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan, the spouse of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Anna Hakobyan has launched a large-scale campaign to combat domestic violence. “The campaign aims to prevent violence in the family from the very beginning, that is, to prevent it from reaching its peak, to conduct an effective investigation of current cases, and also to form zero tolerance among society towards the phenomenon of violence in general. It was within the framework of this campaign that the package of bills was developed, which is being submitted to the Government for discussion today”.
Arpine Sargsyan identified four directions. In particular, it is planned to strengthen the protection of the victim within the framework of criminal proceedings, it is proposed to limit the double interrogation of the victim, it is planned to introduce a mandatory rule for the rehabilitation of persons who have committed violence, etc. Referring to the legislative initiative, Nikol Pashinyan recalled that the institution of prevention of domestic violence was adopted and approved years ago. However, according to the Prime Minister, it was adopted under the demands of international organizations and the state did not seriously face the problem.
The government approved the bill “On Ratification of the “3rd Seismic Safety Improvement Program” Credit Agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the Asian Development Bank”. The 3rd program envisages the construction of 50 more schools. Referring to the school construction program, Nikol Pashinyan noted that it is progressing successfully, and that by the end of the year we will have completed the construction, reconstruction or major renovation of at least 303 schools. In this context, the Prime Minister once again emphasized the need and importance of carrying out construction work with quality. “In general, the process is progressing successfully, if not well. We must continue consistently,” the Prime Minister noted, adding that about 1,000 schools should be built within the program in order to be sure that a physically normal infrastructure has been created in the Republic of Armenia.
By the Government decision, Khachatur Khachikyan was appointed Chairman of the Nuclear Safety Regulatory Committee.
