During a meeting between Russian President Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Bishkek on Tuesday, the Russian leader noted that certain issues, including the regulation of agricultural products, various technical norms and standards, are completely incompatible in the EAEU and the European Union.
Earlier, during negotiations with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the Russian president commented on Armenia’s intention to join the EU, noting that the adoption of a law on the launch of this process would be considered a declaration of withdrawal from the EAEU.
“Russia has deep roots with the Armenian people, but it is impossible for Armenia to be part of both the EU and the EAEU at the same time,” the Russian president said.
He recalled that Armenia receives significant benefits from working within the EAEU, and this applies not only to energy prices.
“Russia and Armenia have agreed to conduct a dialogue in a relaxed mode on the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the European Union,” Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan confirmed that an agreement has been reached to continue the dialogue in Moscow. At the same time, he described his meeting with the Russian President in Bishkek as "very good."
