Armenia is ready for commerce with Azerbaijan, Speaker of Parliament Alen Simonyan has said, following reports that the two countries are discussing possible petroleum shipments.
“I don’t want us to focus solely on oil products,” the Speaker, a senior member of the ruling Civil Contract party, said at a press conference when asked on the matter.
“There should be circulation of all types of goods, and we are prepared for that. ‘The Crossroads of Peace,’ and the peace we are talking about, is precisely about this – it concerns all types of goods,” Simonyan added, expressing confidence that Armenia should take advantage of all possible alternatives for energy carriers, while also allowing Azerbaijan to benefit and have an interest in exporting through Armenian territory to Nakhchivan or Türkiye.
