Reuters. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday (February 11) that new technology has not lead to a loss of work and that he believes AI will create new types of jobs.
"We need to invest in skilling and re-skilling our people for an AI-driven future," he told fellow government leaders and tech titans, at the second day of an AI summit in Paris, adding that humanity needs to act with a sense of responsibility in the face of concerns that AI may surpass human intelligence.
Modi also said global governance that builds trust and upholds mutual values is necessary for AI, adding that it must also ensure equal access to the technology for the global south.
Heads of state and technology executives were convening in Paris to discuss how to safely embrace artificial intelligence at a time of mounting resistance to heavy-handed red tape that businesses say stifles innovation.
