From Tegh village to the respective border zone, where there are problems to go to that zone, there is a police checkpoint, and the police set up multiple checkpoints or patrol traffic in our area as needed. It is not Azerbaijan’s business to interfere where we put a checkpoint. There is no such thing and it cannot be. Armen Khachatryan, deputy of the ‘Civil Contract’ faction of the National Assembly stated answering journalist's question about the possibility of setting up Azerbaijani checkpoints on the road to Tegh village.
As for the issue of returning Azerbaijani citizens who entered the territory of Armenia, he said. “I don't see such an opportunity as of now. If a crime has taken place - murder, violation of the border - it should be fully investigated, all the circumstances should be clarified, and only after that, there should be political processes. We also have prisoners there, and I cannot say what processes will take place, but I will say one thing clearly that the investigation in the prosecutor's office and investigative bodies will not be interrupted, the act will be qualified, and the criminal will be brought to trial. What state arrangements will be made after that depends on the situation.”
Referring to the possibility of negotiating the exchange process with Armenian prisoners, Khachatryan said that he excludes it during the preliminary investigation.
Speaking about the situation after the incident near Tegh village, Armen Khachatryan said that it is a relatively peaceful situation, engineering works are going on both sides. “The Azerbaijani side has also built positions in those areas that are in our administrative territory. We all know about it, and what is in our administrative territory, no Azerbaijani should be there. Time will show how we will achieve that,” said the deputy.
He emphasized that our army was able to carry out a large volume of fortification works in a very short period of time in order to prevent such attempts in that area. “There were a number of such attempts and they were prevented,” said Armen Khachatryan.
On April 11, the units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces fired at the armed forces soldiers who were carrying out engineering works in the direction of Tegh community of Syunik province. As a result of Azerbaijani provocation, the Armenian side has 4 victims and 6 wounded.
