Russia has assured the US that it is not passing intelligence to Iran, US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff said in an interview with CNBC.
"We can take them at their word," Witkoff said on CNBC's "Money Movers." "Let's hope they're truly not sharing information," he added.
The call between Trump and Putin took place the previous day. "Yesterday, on the call with the president, the Russians said they were not sharing information," Witkoff stated.
However, an MS Now report from Saturday, citing two US officials, claimed that Russia is allegedly providing Iran with data that could help its forces attack American ships, aircraft and military bases in the Middle East. "Russia is providing intelligence assistance to Iran," one official said.
Witkoff declined to answer directly when asked whether Russia is sharing intelligence with Iran. "I'm not an intelligence officer, so I can't tell you," he said.
