Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said he is considering what public need the $500,000 cash prize from the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity should be allocated to.
Prime Minister Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev were awarded the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity in recognition of their peace efforts. The total prize fund amounts to $1 million, which will be equally shared between the two leaders.
“Since we have shared the prize, it is assumed that each of us will receive $500,000. The money has not yet been transferred. I am thinking about what public need or purpose this money should be directed to. When there is a concrete decision and an opportunity, we will announce it,” the Prime Minister told reporters.
Pashinyan noted that a final decision on the allocation of the funds will be made after the prize is officially transferred.
