Reuters. A Mexican medical transport plane carrying 8 passengers crashed into the water off the coast of Texas on Monday (Dec. 22), killing at least three people, ABC Affiliate KTRK reported.
Mexico's Navy confirmed that the plane was carrying out a medical mission trip in coordination with the Michou and Mou Foundation, a non-profit that helps pediatric burn victims.
The plane had taken off from Mexico and was approaching Galveston around 3:20pm local time (2120 GMT), the Mexican Navy said.
Video from the scene showed search and rescue workers and a dive team working in dense fog in the area of Scholes International Airport.
