Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan reaffirmed that the term “corridor,” used by Azerbaijan in reference to the road passing through the territory of Armenia, is unacceptable to the Armenian side.
Grigoryan made the remarks at a panel titled “Armenia–Azerbaijan Lasting Peace: The Washington Agreement and a Joint Future”, which was also attended by Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan.
“At the Washington summit, the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and the United States signed a document in which this route is called TRIPP. We are referring to this term. And we are confident that TRIPP will open up great opportunities not only for the region but also for businesses and countries outside the region,” Grigoryan said.
During the discussion, Hajiyev underscored the Washington agreement reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan on transport communication and connectivity on August 8, noting that in this context Azerbaijan uses the term “Zangezur Corridor.” He added that Azerbaijan is aware that the Armenian side has a different approach to the issue and expressed hope that terminology would be the only disagreement between the two sides.
