On the eve of his state visit to Kazakhstan, the Azerbaijani President gave an interview to Kazinform agency, noting that the political relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are distinguished by their strength and high level of mutual trust.
According to Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan also effectively cooperate in multilateral formats, in particular, within the framework of international and regional organizations, including the UN, the Organization of Turkic States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia.
“Transport and logistics cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan is a strategically important direction that opens up new opportunities for economic growth and integration of regional markets. The volume of transit transportation between the countries reached more than 3.5 million tons in 2024, which is 20% higher than previous indicators. The Middle Corridor plays a key role in ensuring stable and efficient communication between countries,” Aliyev noted.
He recalled that the agreement signed between the Azerbaijani SOCAR and the Kazakh national company KazMunaygaz provides for the transit of 1.5 million tons of Kazakh oil annually via the Aktau-Ceyhan route. An agreement was signed in 2024 on a phased increase in transit volumes and a reduction in tariffs.
