On September 24, the RA NA President Alen Simonyan being on a working visit in Spain met with the President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Spain Pedro Rollán.
Alen Simonyan thanked his colleague for warm reception, in response to which, Pedro Rollán underscored the importance of the visits in terms of strengthening the bilateral ties.
In addition to issues regarding the development of inter-parliamentary relations, the focus of the interlocutors’ discussions were topics referring to the Republic of Armenia-European Union relations, the ongoing democratic reforms in Armenia, and the EU observer mission deployed in Armenia. Special reference was made to the ‘Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity’ (TRIPP) communication programme.
Highlighting the agreements reached and documents signed in Washington on August 8, the President of the Senate noted that Spain is waiting for the final signing of the peace agreement, adding that there is no alternative to establishing peace.
Alen Simonyan also drew his colleague’s attention to the problem of the captives being in Azerbaijan and illegally held persons there, highlighting the issue of those considered missing.
