A French state ceremony dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide was held Thursday at the Esplanade of Armenia located along the Seine River in the heart of Paris, with the participation of French Prime Minister Francois Bayrou, informs the Embassy of Armenia to France.
First, wreaths in memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide were laid in front of the Komitas Monument by Prime Minister Francois Bayrou, former Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, Armenian Ambassador to France Arman Khachatryan, and Vice-President of the France-Armenia Friendship Group of the French Senate Herve Marcel on behalf of Senate President Gerard Larcher, and some other figures from the French state and the French Armenian community.
Besides, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo and Prime Minister Francois Bayrou delivered remarks to the French Armenian community.
Among the honored guests of this event were dozens of French officials - government members, MPs, senators, members of regional and departmental councils, mayors - as well as representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in France.
After the ceremony, a traditional procession was held, with the participation of numerous French Armenians.
