Armenia takes the position that we do not have any territorial claims from any neighbor, including Azerbaijan. This essentially means that we need to adjust the state borders and the territories that belong to our states. Armenian Parliament’s Deputy Speaker Hakob Arshakyan said about it in a briefing with journalists at the Parliament.
Referring to the peace treaty with Azerbaijan, he noted that the thing is not about the fact that the treaty exists and has been signed, or is now on the table and will be signed now. “The problem is in adjusting the principles,” said Arshakyan.
Referring to the issue of the fate of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), the Parliament Deputy Speaker stated that the perception is as follows. “Regarding the issue of the rights and security of Artsakh Armenians, an international format should be created, where Stepanakert and Baku should enter into dialogue. Stepanakert should be at the negotiating table so that Armenia does not decide, but is decided at that table," said Hakob Arshakyan.
“The situation we have now stems from the trilateral statement signed on November 9, which is not working well at some points and is working well at some points. The next stage is about the peace treaty. Basically, two questions should be addressed within the framework of this peace treaty. The issue concerning Armenia and Azerbaijan, which is about territorial integrity and not having territorial claims from each other, and the second part is the issue of the rights and security of Artsakh Armenians,” he said.
