On May 20, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares Bueno in Turin within the framework of the 132nd ministerial session of the Council of Europe.
Emphasizing that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Spain, the Foreign Ministers of the two countries referred to the development of friendly relations based on common values, the activation of mutual visits at a high level and political dialogue.
Ararat Mirzoyan expressed satisfaction with the decision of the Spanish government to open a permanent representation in Armenia, which will give a new impetus to cooperation at both political and business levels.
The need to deepen mutually beneficial and effective cooperation between Armenia and Spain on multilateral platforms was stressed.
The parties also touched upon issues of regional and international significance.
Minister Mirzoyan presented Armenia's position on the establishment of regional peace and stability and the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. In the context of the humanitarian problems created by the 44-day war, the immediate repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war and civilians held in Azerbaijan and the preservation of Armenian religious and cultural heritage in the territories under Azerbaijani control were valued.
