The idea was to hold an online trilateral meeting on November 9. I said that the idea of that meeting is debatable for us, and it is problematic. I have clearly stated, I have sincerely stated our position, that November 9 is a difficult, hard, bitter day for us. But if it turns out that we manage to agree on a clear outcome as a result of the November 9 meeting, for example, to resolve the issue of captives, then I am ready to take that bitterness and to participate in that online meeting. Then, when it turned out that, unfortunately, we could not come to such an agreement, the views differed, simply stating that the symbolism of November 9 was not so good for us, I asked and suggested the meeting be moved to November 15.
Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said this during an online press conference organized for the representatives of mass media and non-governmental organizations, answering the question whether there was a preliminary agreement on the Putin-Aliyev-Pashinyan online meeting between November 9-17, and if so, who refused the meeting and why?
According to the Prime Minister, Armenia is ready to negotiate, work and find solutions.
“Armenia is ready to work together, to suffer, and to find mutually acceptable solutions, but, you know, sometimes with symbolism and other means, Azerbaijan tries to pursue a policy of coercion, aggressive coercion, and blackmail. I said at the recent Security Council meeting that even though we understand the vulnerability of our situation, Armenia will not give in to that policy of blackmail because in that way Azerbaijan is already targeting Armenia’s independence, sovereignty, statehood and democracy with the encouragement of other countries. I said there is no need to speak to Armenia in the language of coercion,” Pashinyan stated.
