A woman who was trapped in a manhole amid heavy snowstorm in Tianjin was rescued by firefighters, according to China's state media CCTV on Thursday (November 11).
The woman was trapped for more than 10 minutes in sub-zero temperatures before being eventually rescued, CCTV reported. She was reported to be in a good condition after the rescue.
Snowstorms have wreaked havoc in northeast China in recent days with record snowfall in some parts snarling traffic, disrupting train services and raising concerns about power supply as temperatures plunged.
Since the arrival of a cold wave on Sunday (November 7), temperatures in northeastern China had plunged by as much as 14 degrees Celsius in certain areas by Tuesday (November 9).
The northeastern region has also stepped up efforts to restore accessibility, with authorities working to clear snow from roads and removing fallen trees.
