On September 14, a delegation led by the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Arpine Sargsyan, departed for Georgia on a two-day working visit.
On the same day, the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Arpine Sargsyan, was received by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Sulkhan Tamazashvili.
An official ceremony was held, during which the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Arpine Sargsyan, and the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Sulkhan Tamazashvili, laid wreaths at the memorial to police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
During the meeting, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Sulkhan Tamazashvili, highly appreciated the close partnership between the Ministries of Internal Affairs of the two countries, emphasizing that active contacts provide an opportunity to make cooperation more targeted and effective.
Thanking her counterpart for the warm reception, the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Arpine Sargsyan, emphasized that Armenia and Georgia have historically maintained strong ties based on shared values, mutual trust, and friendship.
Key issues were discussed, particularly those related to combating crime and ensuring public order and security.
It was noted that contemporary challenges related to crime are also transnational in nature, making the timely exchange of operational information between law enforcement agencies, coordination of actions, and the establishment of joint working mechanisms particularly important.
The possibilities for exchanging experience and implementing joint programmes among the services subordinate to the Ministries of Internal Affairs were also discussed.
During the meeting, the Ministers of Internal Affairs of Armenia and Georgia emphasized the importance of maintaining lasting peace in the South Caucasus.
Other issuesrelated to bilateral cooperation and of mutual interest were also discussed.
