After receiving the Hessian Peace Prize, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan spoke about the path Armenia has taken in recent years and noted that, following the establishment of peace, it is now necessary to strengthen optimism in society. According to him, this can be achieved through cooperation with Azerbaijan and international partners, as well as through programs demonstrating the concrete benefits of peace.
“Obviously, I received this award for the fact that we have been able to go through this extremely difficult path. Those who are aware of what has happened in our region, particularly in Armenia, over the past six years, know that it was indeed a very, very difficult path.
And, of course, it is very important that we were able to reach this point and try to turn pessimism into optimism. And, you know, the latest elections and their results show that optimism now prevails over pessimism in Armenia. It is very important to strengthen that optimism, because this also means strengthening peace.
Therefore, we are now working to strengthen peace. And I am confident that we will succeed, of course, through cooperation and dialogue with Azerbaijan and our international partners, as well as through the implementation of very concrete programs that will demonstrate the benefits of peace for the two peoples of Armenia and Azerbaijan,” the Prime Minister said.
