The Bureau of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly issued an official statement ahead of the June 18 meeting of EU leaders, EU member states leaders, and heads of the Eastern Partnership (EaP) member countries.
The PA Bureau's statement is a key and fundamental document defining the strategic directions and vision of cooperation between the EU and the EaP countries, reaffirming the commitment of the Eastern Partnership countries to the values underlying the initiative and among other principles emphasizing the right to self-determination.
"This statement is an agreed strategic document adopted by the heads of Parliamentary delegations of 5 EaP member states - Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and Azerbaijan, which is the result of long and difficult negotiations", said the head of the Armenian delegation to the EaP Parliamentary Assembly, Bureau member Gayane Abrahamyan.
It should be noted that the statement emphasizes the importance of Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEAP), which defines the framework for deepening Armenia-EU partnership, EU support for political and economic reforms in Armenia, "as well as for strengthening Armenia's role in maintaining regional security and stability".
