Embassy to the Republic of Armenia in Russia expresses its position over the statement issued by State Duma deputy Vladimir Zhirinovski.
Ambassador Oleg Yesayan has commented on lawmaker Vladimir Zhirinovsky's recent remarks about Armenia.
"Political absurdity has always been typical of Mr. Zhirinovsky, and his unserious remarks on various issues are a vivid manifestation of it. In this regard, taking his remarks about Armenia seriously and especially trying to present them as Russia's official stand is also unserious.
The regular wierd comments made by Zhirinovsky became the manifestation of his political survival, aiming to draw attention to his own persona, he notes. "This is especially visible in the run-up to the parliamentary elections in Russia," Yesayan says.
"We have already expressed our view on the cynical remarks of the Russian State Duma eccentric member to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and we have received the relevant clarifications," he says.
