Kyrgyzstan and China have signed more than 30 bilateral documents covering a broad range of cooperation during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit, marking a further step in the development of relations between the two countries, Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev said.
Among the key outcomes were a joint declaration on the high-quality development of the comprehensive strategic partnership in the new era and a treaty on eternal good-neighbourliness, friendship and cooperation, as reported by Akchabar, a TV BRICS partner.
Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov described the current stage of relations with China as a “golden period”, saying the proposed treaty on eternal good-neighbourliness, friendship and cooperation would provide a firm foundation for the further development of the comprehensive strategic partnership.
“I can confidently say that today cooperation between our countries has entered a new, golden period of development,” Japarov said.
Economic cooperation and transport infrastructure featured prominently in the bilateral agenda. Japarov described China as Kyrgyzstan’s main trade and investment partner and reaffirmed the country’s readiness to continue joint projects under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Jeenbek Kulubaev said expanding access to the Chinese market for Kyrgyz-produced goods, particularly agricultural products, was another important priority in the economic dialogue.
The agreements signed during the visit include measures aimed at expanding trade and strengthening cooperation in the movement of goods. Kulubaev also pointed to cooperation on quality control and safety requirements governing bilateral supplies.
He linked further trade growth to improvements in transport and border infrastructure, with Kyrgyzstan seeking to increase the capacity of border crossing points, digitise customs procedures and reduce the time required for cargo to pass through the border.
Official statistics show that bilateral trade exceeded US$2.6 billion in the first six months of 2026, accounting for 33 per cent of Kyrgyzstan’s total foreign trade. Kyrgyz exports to China reached US$94.2 million during the period, representing a 50.9 per cent increase compared with the same period of 2025.
