Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk has said that Moscow is ready to begin constructive dialogue with Armenia on phytosanitary controls, TASS news agency reported.
“The issue is not whether Armenia will ‘come to its senses or not,’ but that phytosanitary control requirements must be met. And, naturally, we are ready for such constructive dialogue. However, unfortunately, we see that there are certain problems on the Armenian side, and accordingly, such a dialogue is underway,” he said.
Overchuk recalled that recently, during a meeting with the RA Minister of Economy, Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut highlighted the problems associated with fruits and vegetables imported from Armenia. "The problem is not that they are of poor quality, but that there are pests and diseases there," the Russian Deputy Prime Minister clarified.
