The TRIPP project will include not only railways, but also pipelines, roads, cables, and power lines. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this in his speech during the presentation of the Government's 2026-2031 action plan within the framework of the first session of the ninth convocation of the National Assembly.
“There is a high probability that power lines will be the first infrastructure to be launched within the framework of the TRIPP, because firstly, it is relatively easy to quickly deliver it technically, and secondly, the growing demand for electricity in the world forces us to pay more attention to projects for exporting electricity from the region,” he announced.
According to the Prime Minister, the framework agreement on strategic cooperation between Armenia and the United States on the TRIPP project is in the ratification stage.
“Work on the establishment of the TRIPP Development Company is in the final stage. Let me remind you that Armenia will have a 26 percent share in that company, and the United States will have a 74 percent share. This resolution will be in effect for at least 49 years, and after that period, if extended by mutual agreement of the parties, for another 50 years. In this case, Armenia's share will become 49 percent, and the US share will become 51 percent, without any additional financial or other investment from Armenia," the Prime Minister informed, emphasizing that TRIPP does not imply any foreign military or armed presence.
