The United States and Iran have been trading strikes for the sixth night in a row. The US Central Command said the strikes on the Islamic Republic were aimed at weakening the country’s military capabilities.
In addition, US troops boarded an oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman that was trying to breach Iran’s naval blockade.
Iranian state media reported that the US had targeted civilian infrastructure in the country, including bridges, a railway station and an airport. The area around Qeshm Island, which is located near the Strait of Hormuz, Bandar Abbas and Bushehr were also hit.
According to Iranian sources, there were casualties and injuries. The latest escalation has brought the death toll to 40.
Iran has also struck Jordan, Syria, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates.
A White House spokesman said Tehran was willing to make a deal with Washington.
Iran's foreign minister accused the United States of betraying diplomacy and violating a previously signed memorandum of understanding. Abbas Araghchi urged regional countries to prevent the United States from using bases there to target the Islamic Republic.
