US President Donald Trump said that despite the complexity of the situation, significant progress has been made in the war in Ukraine in recent weeks.
During talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the NATO summit in Ankara on July 8, Trump commented on his contacts with the presidents of Ukraine and Russia. He described both as difficult interlocutors.
At the NATO summit, Trump praised Ukraine, expressing confidence that it has a bright future, because "strong people" live there. Trump also expressed confidence that the Ukrainian president will be able to rebuild the country after the war.
The US president noted that Washington has its interests in Ukraine. "It is one of the richest countries in the world, with deposits of rare metals, rich in natural resources," Trump said.
