Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan commented during a press briefing on a journalist’s observation that he had declared victory before vote counting had been completed at some polling stations. Pashinyan stated: “This is common practice in democratic countries, where projections are based on polls, ongoing vote counts, and voting patterns. It is the role of the Central Electoral Commission to confirm or refute statements made by politicians through its official results,” the Prime Minister said.
Responding to a question about war and peace and whether a war is expected in September, as had been suggested during the election campaign, the Prime Minister replied: “There will be no war; there will be peace. The government will consistently continue to pursue the peace agenda through all available means.”
