Against the backdrop of reports about Yerevan’s rapprochement with the West, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk stated that Russia will treat any choice made by Armenia with understanding.
“Armenia is a very close country to us. It is an ally and part of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The human ties that unite us are deep, very serious, and long-standing. We have great respect for the people of Armenia. And, of course, as Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated, we will treat any choice made by the Armenian people with understanding,” Overchuk told reporters on Friday on the sidelines of the “Russia-Islamic World: KazanForum 2026” international economic forum.
