Reuters. U.S President Donald Trump said on Wednesday (April 8) all U.S. ships, aircraft, and military personnel would stay in place in and around Iran until it fully complied with a deal.
"All U.S. Ships, Aircraft, and Military Personnel, with additional Ammunition, Weaponry, and anything else that is appropriate and necessary for the lethal prosecution and destruction of an already substantially degraded Enemy, will remain in place in, and around, Iran, until such time as the REAL AGREEMENT reached is fully complied with" Trump said in a post on Truth Social on Wednesday.
Trump is dispatching his Iran negotiating team, led by Vice President JD Vance, to Pakistan, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Wednesday, adding that the first round of talks would take place on Saturday (April 11).
U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner were also part of the team, Leavitt told reporters.
Leavitt said Vance had played a significant and key role on Iran since the beginning, and said conversations had taken place between top levels of the U.S. government and China.
