Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Sunday in an interview with Al Jazeera that some military units have become “independent and somewhat isolated” and are operating only on pre-issued general instructions.
“What happened in Oman was not our choice. We have already told our Armed Forces to be careful about the targets they choose,” Araghchi said.
Iran has attacked Qatar, which is negotiating with Tehran and shares a large natural gas field with the Islamic Republic in the Persian Gulf.
Tehran has also attacked the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman, which have played a role in mediating recent nuclear talks with the United States.
