Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the war will be stopped only if the international community fully blocks Russian oil flows, other energy resources, and the banking sector. In his view, Russia is not demonstrating readiness to establish peace. “There are still no signs that Moscow intends to stop its military machine,” the President of Ukraine said.
At the same time, he believes that progress toward peace could come in the autumn, against the backdrop of the U.S. midterm elections. Speaking about his relations with Donald Trump, Zelenskyy described them as “complicated,” but emphasized that this cannot affect cooperation between the two countries.
The Kremlin also announced that work is underway to prepare the next round of Ukraine–Russia–U.S. negotiations, with the date to be announced later.
Earlier, Zelenskyy had said that the trilateral meeting could take place in early March in Abu Dhabi.
