A majority of European Union member states — 25 countries — have voted in favor of suspending the visa-free regime for holders of Georgian diplomatic passports, Rikard Jozwiak, editor of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty’s Europe bureau, reported.
Twenty-five EU countries voted in favor of the initiative, with only Hungary and Slovakia voting against.
Under the decision, which will enter into force in early March, holders of diplomatic passports will be deprived of the right to enter the Union without a visa.
The visa-free regime between Georgia and the EU has been in effect since March 2017. Last year, more than 10 EU countries revoked that regime for holders of Georgian diplomatic and service passports.
