For nearly the past 40 years, one would never see the words “peace,” “Armenia,” and “Azerbaijan” used together, and even if they were used together, it would mean something unimaginable. That is why what happened in 2025 and what is happening now is unimaginable, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at the 2026 Zayed Award for Human Fraternity ceremony.
“However, this ceremony is not only about celebrating the peace agreement; it is also a confirmation by Armenia and Azerbaijan of the fact that the chapter of conflict is closed. Otherwise, it would have been meaningless for either the President of Azerbaijan or me to come here and receive this award.
This is also an expression of the support of the international community, because the decision was made by the Judging Committee, which includes highly respected members from different parts of the world,” he said.
Pashinyan also noted that although the award is being given to the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan, it belongs to the two peoples.
“Incredible things happen when there is faith, dedication, vision, and wisdom. I believe the peace agreement was concluded because Armenia and Azerbaijan realized that the conflict must be stopped now; otherwise, it would never be stopped, bringing ever more suffering to both countries and peoples,” he said.
