The first round of negotiations between Ukraine, Russia, and the United States has concluded in Abu Dhabi, and the talks will continue today as well.
Head of the Kyiv delegation Rustem Umerov stated that the meeting was “dedicated to the parameters for ending the Russian war and the further logic of the negotiation process to achieve a dignified and lasting peace.”
President Volodymyr Zelensky said he is receiving detailed reports from the Ukrainian team. The President of Ukraine noted that it is “still too early to draw conclusions” regarding the substance of the negotiations, but that certain responses must be obtained from the Russian side and it must be ensured that Moscow is ready to end the war. Zelensky reported that the agenda in Abu Dhabi includes, in particular, the issue of Donbas.
The Kremlin also notes that there is progress in efforts to resolve the conflict. Earlier, Moscow had stated that there is no hope for a long-term settlement without resolving the territorial issue.
