Mexico is one of the most influential and powerful countries in North America and Latin America. We attach importance to the development and strengthening of relations between Armenia and Mexico, the Head of the NA Armenia-Mexico Friendship Group Artur Khachatryan said at the meeting with the delegation led by the Head of the Mexico-Armenia Friendship Group of the Chamber of Deputies of Mexico Silvia Patricia Jiménez Delgado.
The meeting held in the Parliament on January 23 was attended by the members of the Armenia-Mexico Friendship Group of the National Assembly Tatevik Gasparyan, Narek Ghahramanyan, Argishti Gevorgyan, Alkhas Ghazaryan, Vahe Ghalumyan, Hayk Tsirunyan and Vanik Ohanyan.
“We closely cooperated with the previous Friendship Group and I am confident that this cooperation will deepen with the newly established group,” Artur Khachatryan said.
Expressing gratitude to Mexico for recognizing the Armenian Genocide three years ago, the Head of the Friendship Group noted that the recognition of the genocide is also a political issue in addition to restoring historical justice.
Expressing gratitude for the reception, Silvia Patricia Jiménez Delgado highlighted the importance of strengthening parliamentary ties, especially through active cooperation between friendship groups. The member of the Chamber of Deputies spoke about the opportunities for developing cooperation in a number of areas.
The deputies of the National Assembly, welcoming the guests, mentioned that there is significant potential for developing cooperation in the fields of culture, tourism, education, as well as the economy. The importance of increasing trade turnover between the two countries was emphasized.
The members of the Mexico-Armenia Friendship Group touched upon the importance of establishing peace in the region, spoke about the latest developments in the normalization of relations with Azerbaijan, and highlighted the return of the persons held in Azerbaijan to their homeland. The deputies representing the ruling faction voiced the Crossroads of Peace project.
