During a parliamentary briefing, National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan commented on a statement by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who said that ahead of the June 2026 elections, opinion polls show that Pashinyan is in the lead and that there is support for his constructive role.
“We also make positive statements regarding Turkey, regarding Georgia, regarding Iran. We are now making a statement about what is happening in Iran—does that constitute interference?” he said, at the same time expressing the view that this is not a matter of interference in Armenia’s internal affairs.
Alen Simonyan also thanked Fidan.
“I thank the Turkish Foreign Minister and all those regional partners who support the calls of the majority of the public of the Republic of Armenia to pursue peace, to engage in trade, and to develop that trade within the framework of TRIPP,” the National Assembly Speaker said, responding to the statement by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
It should be recalled that on January 15, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan addressed regional issues at a press conference, including Armenia–Azerbaijan and Armenia–Turkey relations, as well as the project referred to as the 'Trump Route'.
