Syrian security forces and demining teams have entered the Sheikh Maqsoud district, which had earlier been brought under the control of the Syrian Army and completely cleared of armed presence. This was reported by 'Lurer' correspondent Zarmik Poghikyan.
The Aleppo Operations Command has called on the civilian population of the district to stay in their homes until full security of the area is ensured, the SANA news agency reported.
Reuters reported that some militants and leaders of the district withdrew at midnight toward areas east of the Euphrates.
Ilham Ahmed, the head of external relations of the district’s self-administration, emphasizing the priority of civilian protection, welcomed the initiative to direct the district’s forces east of the Euphrates, on the condition that the security of the Kurdish population of Aleppo’s Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud districts be guaranteed, in accordance with the agreement reached in April in Aleppo with the Syrian Army.
