Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has been captured, after the United States carried out a "large scale strike" against the country, U.S. President Donald Trump announced in a social media post on Saturday (January 3), Reuters reports.
Maduro and his wife have been “captured and flown out of the Country”, Trump said in his post on social media website, Truth Social.
Explosions rocked Caracas in the early hours of Saturday following months of threats by Trump against Maduro.
The Venezuelan government said attacks also took place in the states of Miranda, Aragua and La Guaira, prompting Maduro to declare a national emergency and mobilise defence forces.
