Donald Trump has commented on the situation surrounding Ukraine. According to the U.S. President, the American side is currently making peace efforts and, unlike the previous administration, is not financing the war.
“I have resolved eight conflicts. This will be the ninth. It’s not an easy situation, it’s a mess,” the U.S. President said with concern, adding that he deserves a Nobel Prize for his efforts.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed confidence that Russia and Ukraine are closer to peace than ever before. According to him, in the end it is the conflicting parties themselves who must decide to stop the war.
"What they're literally fighting over now is about 30 to 50 kilometer space and the 20% of the Donetsk region that remains [under Ukrainian control]. What we have tried to do, and I think have made some progress, is figure out what can the Ukrainians live with that gives them security guarantees for the future," Rubio said Tuesday in an interview with Fox News. Rubio added that the United States cannot support Kyiv indefinitely.
