“There are many issues related to TRIPP that require clarification, and among them is the question of which service will carry out the security and in what manner,” said Yesai Mkrtchyan, Deputy Director of the National Security Service of Armenia, during the December 3 session of the National Assembly, responding to a question from Anna Grigoryan, an MP from the 'Armenia' ('Hayastan') faction.
The opposition MP asked whether the previously announced plan, according to which a separate unit would be created within the NSS to oversee the TRIPP route, had been reaffirmed during negotiations, specifically regarding whether that unit would exercise full control over the road passing through Meghri.
“Yes, a special unit has been established for those purposes as well, but we will address those matters later,” Yesai Mkrtchyan said.
