Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has sent a telegram of condolences to President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on the death of Nikita Simonyan.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the telegram reads:
“Dear Vladimir Vladimirovich,
I have learned with deep sorrow about the death of the legendary football player, honored coach, honored master of sports and four-time champion of the USSR, Nikita Simonyan.
As an outstanding football player and coach, he wrote his name in golden letters in the history of Armenian and Soviet football. Under his leadership, Yerevan’s Ararat became the champion and a two-time USSR Cup winner in 1973 and 1975, giving all Armenians an unforgettable sense of pride.
Throughout his long career, Nikita Simonyan was awarded state honors by both the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation. His achievements, professionalism and dedication to football will continue to inspire future generations.
On behalf of the Armenian people and myself, I ask you to convey words of condolences and support to the family and loved ones of Nikita Simonyan.”
